The PUI Nigerian Mission has been officially opened in April 2016, with a focus on meeting urgent needs, including improving access to food commodities, primary health care and nutrition for Internally Displaced People (IDP) and host communities (HC) living in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC).
PUI Job Recruitment (3 Positions):
Nutrition Officer
Location: Pulka, Borno
Employment Type: Full-time
General Objective
- Working under the guidance and supervision of the Nutrition Supervisor, the Nutrition Officer will be directly responsible for implementation of Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) or Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) program depending on assignment.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Implementation and monitoring of the nutrition activities
- Responsible for day to day management of nutrition activities at Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) or IYCF project sites according to the standardized protocols, policies and guidelines outlined by the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and/or Global nutrition standards
- Participate in the identification of eligible project beneficiaries and Community Focal persons including Community Nutrition Mobilsers, Lead Mothers according to assignment
- Participate in organising Project beneficiaries and Volunteers into groups and other Fora for dissemination of nutrition messages
- With the support of CMAM or IYCF Supervisors, participate in the planning and in the implementation of trainings for the beneficiaries, volunteers and community focal persons
- Participate in planning and conducting community/household surveys or assessments according to need
- Ensure OTP beneficiary absentee or defaulter tracing and other forms of beneficiary follow-ups at community level
- Ensure appropriate and consistent education messaging/Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) to mothers and other carers at OTP or IYCF project sites
- In liaison with supervisor, disseminate any relevant Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials and reporting tools to Lead Mothers, volunteers or health facility staff as may be required
- Implement outpatient therapeutic feeding of severely malnourished under-fives, and community outreach integrated with IYCF activities according to the stipulated protocols Train and mentor Nutrition project staff and community nutrition mobilisers (CNM) through identification of capacity gaps and carrying out refresher and on-the-job trainings
- Disseminate key messages on nutrition to the targeted beneficiaries, and ensure it is delivered appropriately
- Participate in surveillance activities including MUAC screening of the under-fives/pregnant and lactating women based on project needs
- Enhance close collaboration with Health, Food Security and Livelihoods, and Protection at project level
- Ensure nurture good collaboration between PUI and local community leaders
- Act as a liaison with the local population and authorities in order to identify the needs, grievances and major events that could have potential consequences for PUI activities
- Participate in ensuring that OTP or IYCF beneficiaries and local populations both understand the project goals and actively participate in their implementation.
Communication and Reporting:
- Pass on any information or problems to his/her direct and/or indirect supervisor concerning his/her task, PUI programs, or safety aspects
- Address any issues on the field with the beneficiaries or the community members and tell the line supervisor
- Represent PUI at anytime and anywhere when s/he is in duty
- Collect and compile data, pictures and information from the field to present accurate weekly internal reports to the supervisor
- Present weekly achievements, problems encountered and suggestion to improve the project implementation.
- Assist in strengthening the PUI’s community Feedback and Complains system
- Keep monitoring tools and files archived at the PUI office, ensuring their availability to his/her supervisor
Logistic and Administration:
- Contribute to logistical and administrative organization of the activities related to Nutrition Program
- Contribute to the definition of the needs in materials and tools regarding the program and the planning of interventions.
- Ensure the safety and good condition of nutrition material provided by PUI
The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are non-exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project’s needs.

Qualifications & Required Skills
Mandatory Requirements:
- Education Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Nutrition, Dietetics, Nursing or an equivalent course
- Work experience: At least 1 year experience in CMAM and IYCF Preferably in Emergency in host communities or IDP camp settings
- Language skills: Fluent in English and Hausa, Kanuri is a plus
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of nutritional surveillance and information systems
- Proven ability and experience in planning and conducting formal training session on nutrition including CMAM and IYCF
- Computer skills: Proficient user of MS Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Logistics Assistant
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Full-time
General Objective
- Under the supervision of the Logistics Officer, the Logistics Assistant performs or oversees repair/maintenance/building work within agreed deadlines.
- S/he will be responsible for the smooth running and prevention of the break down/deterioration of PUI equipment/installations/facilities, and for collecting, recording and archiving all related documents concerning procurement.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Equipment:
- Codify all PUI equipment according to PUI procedures
- Assist the Logistics Officer in recording all equipment in the Equipment follow-up sheet
- On a regular basis check that all equipment are working properly (water dispenser, printer, scanner…)
- Inform line manager in case of equipment dysfunction
- Ensure that all the machine’s paper (printer, scanner) and water dispenser is full
- Assist the Logistics Officer in the equipment dispatch
- Assist the loading and unloading of goods/materials
- Control the generators’ fluids and inform his/her line manager in case of any problem
- Ensure the fueling of all generators or assist the guards
- Collect all internal request of stationary items from every department
- Supply stationery items requested to every department
- Inform his direct supervisor in the event of stationery stock replenishment.
Fleet:
- Assist the Logistics officer to ensure that the administrative documents for all vehicles are available, filed and monitored
- Organize the schedule of vehicle movements and drivers at Coordination base level
- Assist the Coordination Logistics Team to report all cars incidents and prepare the reports
- Organise monthly meeting with PUI drivers on sensitiztion of PUI safety and guidelines
- Ensure the daily, weekly and monthly checks on all PUI vehicles according to PUI fleet guidelines
- Assist Logistics officer on vehicle estimate for the month and process the monthly vehicle statement
- Allocation of vehicles to the staff during the working hours
- Provide assistance and support on vehicle repair and management
- Update the daily movement board (Airport drop-offs/pick-ups and movement within/outside the town)
- Assist the Logistics officer for cargo movements across all the bases
- Ensure that vehicle log books are maintained
- Maintain data and update records of all vehicles
- Ensure that office vehicles are checked daily and road worthy
- Ensure that regular service schedule and maintenance is carried out
- Ensure proper monitoring of diesel for generators
- Ensure all generator files (diesel reception, generator fueling follow-up, generator time sheet etc.) are well managed
- Ensure proper maintenance and repair of generator fleets when due for servicing
- Fill the vehicle card of pointing on a daily basis
- Prepare duty roaster for the drivers
- Ensure that all requirements stated in the vehicle rental contract are duly implemented and communicates any discrepancies with the Logistics officer.
Storage:
- Ensure the formal communication linked to the store within the base – stationeries and consumables
- Ensure that storage space is available at the base store
- Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the line manager
- Express his / her needs for daily workers to the Logistic Officer
- Assist with monthly rolling stock takes and the annual stock take, reconciling inventory records with physical counts and sharing the monthly report to the Logistic Officer.
Premises:
- Regularly inspect PUI’s premises to assess what work is necessary
- Inform his/her direct supervisor of any problems or breakdowns noticed in PUI’s premises
- Carry out maintenance and small repairs on PUI’s premises and infrastructures (base, stock, warehouse, health centre, etc.)
- Assist the Logistics Manager for making sure all premises have security equipment (fire extinguishers, sand buckets…)
- Ensure all doors have spare keys and store in the logistics keys cupboard
- Ensure all wall have barbed wire and maintained in good state
- Carry out interventions as indicated by his direct supervisor
- Inform his/her direct supervisor in the event of an incapacity to carry out the work requested which requires the intervention of a worker or specialized technician
- Assist workers or specialized technicians if needed
Documentation and Reporting:
- Give daily report to the Logistics Officer about the progress of the logistics activities
- Archive and centralize logistics files related to his/her domain
- Update and share the monthly fire extinguisher follow-up
- Update and record the vehicle, generator and fuel follow-up regularly and send to the Logistics officer on a monthly basis

- Increase the anticipation, reactivity of maintenance and general equipment of base facilities

Mandatory Requirements
- Education Degree: Secondary Education, B.Sc or HND preferable, and certificate in any logistics field is an asset.
- Work experience: A previous experience of 6 month in logistics work is mandatory. Previous experience in NGO is an asset.

Midwife

General Objective
- Under the direct supervision of the Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) supervisor, the Midwife provides Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH)/ SRH care services, including Ante Natal Care (ANC), Post Natal Care (PNC), Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care, and family planning, etc.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Patient Care:
- Prepare all the materials and ensure that everything is ready before starting the activities
- Perform antenatal consultations including screening tests according to the protocols, detect and mention all the risk factors.
- Conduct delivery according to the protocols, precautions, hygiene standards
- Perform postnatal consultations during the 6 weeks following the delivery, give appropriate treatment and refers to secondary care when needed
- Perform family planning consultations and counseling according to protocol
- Give systematic prophylactic treatments to pregnant women
- Verify the tetanus vaccination of each pregnant woman
- Manage SRH emergency cases with the assistance of the SRH supervisor according to PUI protocols and regulation
- Identify Sexually Gender-Based Violence victims and collaborate with the medical team for treatment
- Explain clearly the diagnosis and treatment to the patient and make sure that the patients comply with the treatment
- Request for a 2nd evaluation of the patient when needed
- Provide individual health promotion during consultations
- Give health education sessions to the patients in the waiting areas
- Execute any action requested by the DPM, SRH supervisor as part of the outbreak response plan
- Actively participate in the good cohesion and coordination of the team.
- Record on a readable manner the health status and medical prescription
- Participate in the follow-up of waste management according to the waste management procedures
- Participate in any other activities such as vaccination, survey etc. according to the needs and as directed

Management Of An Efficient Referral System:
- Manage the emergency and electives referral cases according to the referral protocol by facilitating the logistics including transportation means, appointment with specialists, laboratory tests etc. in collaboration with SRH supervisor
- Follow up the referred cases, and check the outcome
- Ensuring appropriate follow-up care has been given and taking appropriate action if further care is needed
- Identify and refer patients who need mental health consultation
Medical Data Collection And Reporting:
- Record accurately and on a readable manner, the clinical case management on the patient health card (history taking, physical examination, treatment, investigation, etc.), and patient registration book
- Ensure an accurate daily use and tracking of epidemiological data
- Participate in the daily tracking of consumption of the drugs and materials used from the medical box
- Collect general information about the people living conditions
- Participate in the weekly medical statistic report in collaboration with SRH Supervisor and the deputy program manager
- Ensure a clear verbal and written hand over at every end of the shift, with emphasis on specific events
- Report to the supervisor any problem especially the gap/loss/robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines or any patient and organizational issue
