The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was established on May 28, 1975, with the aim of promoting economic cooperation and integration among its member states in West Africa. Originally composed of 15 countries, ECOWAS now includes 15 member states, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Gambia. Over the years, ECOWAS has worked towards regional integration, peace, stability, and economic development through various initiatives such as the establishment of a common market, free movement of people and goods, and regional peacekeeping efforts.
The Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recently declared its recruitment drive for five vacant positions. They ( ECOWAS Recruitment 2023 Application) are as follows:
Programme Assistant
Duty Station: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Category: ECOWAS National Volunteer (with Supervisory duties)
Type of Contract: ECOWAS Volunteers Programme. Non-Family Position
Expected start date: 1st July 2023
Duration: One (01) year, with possibility for renewal (depending on budget availability and satisfactory
performance)

Required Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, project management, economics, international
relations, or any other appropriate diploma, with at least 3 years of professional experience.
Key cores competencies:

- Good writing and research skills, sense of analysis and synthesis;
- Ease in communication and contact with the target audience;
- Predisposition to work in networks and good knowledge of networking;

Language Requirements: - Perfect command of the English or French language (written and oral) is mandatory.

- Support the implementation of the visibility and communication strategy;
- Scan documents, compile relevant data and information from different sources and the
Internet; - Contribute articles/write-ups on field experience and submit for EVP publications/websites,
newsletters, press releases, etc. - Perform duties such as photocopying, collection and distribution of incoming mail,

- A university degree in social sciences, Economics, Statistics or in any other relevant course.
Experience:
5 years of relevant experience in coordination, monitoring and evaluation of development
programmes at the national or international level. Possession of a master’s degree will reduce the
required number of years of professional experience to 3 years.
